Early stage lung cancer patients can now benefit from robotic cancer surgery at Moffitt Cancer Center.
Eric Toloza, M.D., Ph.D. and Jacques-Pierre Fontaine, MD are only two a few highly skilled surgeons across the country performing this minimally invasive lung cancer surgery. To operate the equipment, the physician sits at a console viewing a 3-D image of the surgical area. The system then translates hand, wrist and finger movements into precise, real-time movements of surgical instruments inside the patient.
The benefits of robotic lung cancer surgery include shorter hospital stays and decreased pain and discomfort. Moffitt also offers robotic technology for prostate, kidney, bladder, testicular and uterine cancers.
