At age 26, cancer was the last thing on Joshua's mind when he sought treatment for the persistent pain in his lower abdomen. Tests soon revealed he had Ewing's soft-cell sarcoma.
The news stunned Joshua and his family, who urged him to go to Moffitt Cancer Center, where he had chemotherapy, surgeries and radiation as a part of his sarcoma treatment.
As a survivor, he now volunteers at Moffitt as a unit-based Patient Advisor and as a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Council. He also has spoken at Moffitt about fertility and cancer treatment issues.
