As part of our Cancer Survivorship celebration at Moffitt, we are honoring our patients and caregivers through video testimonials. Find out more about cancer survivorship through their personal experiences.
As a Moffitt employee, Elaine realized the importance of checking out any health issues that might be suspicious. But it was not until she was diagnosed with cancer, and underwent oral cancer treatment herself that she started telling others about the importance of healthy practices and screenings. She says even if you're embarrassed to talk to your doctor, do it for peace of mind.
Her outlook now is a simple one, and she shares it with all her friends and loved ones: "It's better to be laughed at than cried over."
Watch as Elaine shares her story of survivorship.
