Media Relations Team - Michelle Foley
Biographical Information
Michelle Foley is the Manager of Community Relations and Public Affairs at Moffitt Cancer Center. As the lead media strategist for the cancer center, Michelle is responsible for promoting Moffitt in local, regional and national media. She develops strategic media plans and key messages, works with Moffitt faculty and staff to place media stories and serves as the primary media contact for the cancer center. Michelle and her team also increase Moffitt's presence in the community by educating the public at health fairs and other events, coordinating speaking events by Moffitt experts, developing strategic partnerships and sponsorships and participating in civic organizations.
Michelle has more than 11 years of experience in journalism and public relations. She previously served as media spokesperson and director of media relations at the University of South Florida, one of the nation's 20 largest public universities. She also was a producer for the Tampa Bay area's NBC affiliate, WFLA-Ch.8, which was then the top-rated station in the nation's 12th largest media market.
She also works to advance the public relations profession in Florida and nationwide. She is on the board of directors and serves as scholarship chair for the Florida Public Relations Association, and she is a member of the Public Relations Society of America.
Michelle was born and raised in Jacksonville. She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Florida, where she was a producer for the campus television station. Michelle and her husband live in Temple Terrace. They share a love of cooking, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
