Moffitt is working hard to be prepared with precautions in place for the health of our patients, employees and visitors. Moffitt has created a Pandemic Flu Plan regarding early identification, triage, infection control, diagnosis and treatment for patients, or employees through employee health. Our plan is consistent with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health.
Highlights of Moffitt's H1N1 Flu Plan:
- Enhanced awareness and screening in our inpatient areas and clinics to rapidly identify patients who may have flu symptoms
- A heightened level of infection control with specific procedures for caring for patients who present with flu symptoms in order to prevent the spread of the flu virus
- A streamlined process to diagnose and manage patients or employees who come here with flu
- Providing the seasonal and swine flu vaccine as it becomes available according to the recommended guidelines
